QUV ACCELERATED WEATHERING TESTER |
The QUV accelerated weathering tester reproduces the damage caused by sunlight, rain and dew. In a few days or weeks, the QUV tester can reproduce the damage that occurs over months or years outdoors.
To simulate outdoor weathering, the QUV tester exposes materials to alternating cycles of UV light and moisture at controlled, elevated temperatures. It simulates the effects of sunlight using special fluorescent UV lamps. It simulates dew and rain with condensing humidity and/or water spray.
The QUV accelerated weathering tester is the simplest, most reliable, and easiest to use weathering tester available. With thousands of testers in use worldwide, it is the world's most widely used weathering tester.

Autovisc Flow Cup Timer |
The Flow cup timer allows the user to standardize calibration and use of most flow cups, eliminating human error. An integral water jacket is provided for connection to an external water bath, thus enabling close temperature control to be obtained.
The timer is activated automatically as the sample flows past an optical sensor. As soon as a break in the flow occurs the elapsed flow time is shown on the display.
Accuracy and repeatability within 0.5%. Suitable for use with all International specification flow cups other than Zahn and Frikmar cups.

Cone and Plate Viscometer |
This standard test for dynamic viscosity measurements is now faster and more accurate by use of new high precision microprocessor controls. As non-Newtonian fluids exhibit different viscosities relative to the shear rate applied, the cone and plate viscometer tightly controls it to 10,000S-1 (B.S. requirements) or to 12,000S-1 (ASTM). These are generally accepted to be representative of paint application via a roller or brush and so reflect ‘real world’ application. As most viscosity measurements are highly temperature sensitive the samples are placed on a temperature controlled plate which can be set from 5 to 65°C.
Complies to BS 3900;A7, ASTM D 4287, ISO 2884.

Digital Rotothinner™ |
The Rotothinner instrument uses a disc or ball shaped rotor to determine the viscosity of the sample under test. The results are displayed on the LCD screen in POISE units.
Rotothinners allow the operator to continuously monitor the sample’s viscosity whilst a solvent or thinner is added. This allows quick correction factors for use in the production batch when carried out quantitatively.
The viscosity is measured using a high quality microprocessor controlled d.c.motor . The robust construction of the Rotothinners means that they are suitable for use as both production and laboratory instruments. Supplied with a 250 ml sample tin.

Flow Cups |
These flow cups cover most of the standards specified in Britain, France, Germany, USA and by ISO.
With the exception of Zahn and Parlin (Brass) type all flowcups are precision machined from high quality aluminium and feature stainless steel nozzle inserts (depending upon the standard specification).

Gel Strength Tester |
This instrument is specially suited to assess the yield strength and consistency of thick paints and other materials such as gels and putties etc. A 250 ml can containing the sample is magnetically fastened onto a turntable, which is loaded with a calibrated spring
displaying an engraved scale of 0-450 gm/cm. When immersed into the sample, the flat 4 x 2 cm paddle spindle rotates automatically at 2 rpm, and drives the whole can & turntable.
After a peak reading followed by a short time of stabilization, a steady torque value is indicated on the scale. Other paddle sizes are available on request.

Krebs Viscometer |
Based on the popular traditional KREBS method, using a weight-driven rotating paddle to sense the paint viscosity at a constant 200 rpm, this modern digital instrument provides automated motor operation, without weights & pulley, allowing accurate direct reading in KU (Krebs units), mPa.s (cP0 or g (gram). The conversion between these units is automatically calculated by the microprocessor and displayed on request. Sturdy construction allows for use either in a production environment or in the laboratory.

Spindle Viscometer |
The VM range of spindle viscometers from Sheen Instruments, are the ideal solution for performing precise viscosity measurements quickly and efficiently. Ease of use and versatility enable them to be used in many industrial applications where the determination of fluid properties and behavior is essential. The principle of measurement is simple, but reliable, based on the well-established method of measuring the resistance of a spindle rotating in the sample under test. The resultant torque measurement, rotational speed and spindle properties are then combined to automatically calculate the resultant viscosity value.

Temperature Circulating Baths |
Accurate temperature control during viscosity measurements is essential for reliable and repeatable results. It also allows the determination of product behaviour to be evaluated. All Sheen water baths are fitted with an insulated stainless steel tank for sample heating or cooling and a circulation pump with adjustable flow rate to suit a variety of external temperature control applications, e.g. connection to Autovisc or similar water jacket.

Gradient Oven |
The gradient-oven, is special drying oven that has 45 temperature heating elements that can be precisely controlled. A temperature gradient or step-gradient is applied. After a user selectable time period in the gradient-oven the coating can be evaluated for gloss, color, and physical properties along the temperature gradient.
